OUR STORY

Sushi RYU is the labour of love between a few gourmands who wanted to elevate the standard of the omakase experience in Kuala Lumpur without elevating the price point. Located inside Platinum Park within the prime KLCC district, RYU, which translates into the mythical “dragon” in Japanese, aims to fill a gap in the market by offering haute Japanese cuisine in a stylish space without a hefty price tag.


Conceptualised by Singapore-based Restaurant Lifestyle Asia, the attention to details to all facets of the dining experience comes to the fore in this welcoming space. From the hinoki wood chef’s counter with basins discreetly tucked below to the two private dining rooms with its own separate entrances, RYU has raised the Japanese dining scene and set multiple new bars in food, ambience as well as the range of exclusive sake from boutique breweries.


Using a palette of neutral colours, and juxtaposition of textures, RYU embodies warmth and cosiness typical of a sushiya in Tokyo with the 11-seater sushi counter taking centre stage alongside two private dining rooms while bigger groups can be comfortably ensconced at our banquette seat tables.​​​​​​​

OUR MENU & SAKE

Our hand-pressed menus with traditional Japanese binding reveal two omakase menus featuring such signature dishes as chopped otoro with caviar, white fish sashimi drizzled with truffle soyu and cold noodles with uni and caviar, all of which never before seen in Kuala Lumpur.


From wild caught fish sashimi to sushi temaki rolled with truffle caviar pearls, Chef Okabe’s creative culinary flair is only matched by the selection of artisanal sake we have hand-picked on the basis of quality and the sake maker’s passion for the craft.


Featuring such boutique breweries as Nabeshima, Kokuryu and Kid, we offer sake from all four different polish levels to please different tastes and budgets.
